ISB Interview Debriefs

Interview Date: 13th Oct 2019

  • The interview panel consisted of 2 alumni. Both alumni had graduated 5-6 years ago.

  • The interview started with a quick enquiry about the candidate's health - this was highlighted in one of his essays.

  • A short introduction was provided by the alumni. No introduction was sought from the candidate.

  • The interview started with asking his experience at his undergrad university. The candidate had graduated from a top IIT 4 years ago, but this was NOT highlighted in the essays.

  • The interview continued, asking the candidate about his complete story: everything including career, why MBA, why ISB?

  • Asked to explain his experiences with people management.

  • Asked about his goals, and explanation for those goals? Situational follow-up questions

  • The interview ended with light questions on hobbies.

Interview Date: 19th Oct 2019

  • The interview panel consisted of 2 alumni. Both alumni had graduated 5-6 years ago.

  • The interview started with detailed questions on the candidate’s career choices - the candidate had worked in 3 different companies over the last 5.5 years.

  • Asked focused questions about one of the companies which had been highlighted heavily in the essays.

  • Asked to provide examples of people management, stakeholder management and team management issues faced by the candidate while leading teams.

  • Asked about goals - why these goals and some follow up questions.

  • Asked a little bit about hobbies, with examples of how the candidate engaged in those hobbies

  • Ended with a highly positive note. most questions were as prepared and expected.

Interview Date: 20th Oct 2019

  • The interview panel consisted of 2 alumni. Both alumni had graduated 6-8 years ago.

  • The interview started with detailed questions on the candidate’s career and achievements.

  • Asked focused questions on one of the earlier work experiences - mentioned in the essay but not heavily highlighted.

  • Asked in detail about HOW exactly the candidate worked and achieved project successes.

  • Detailed questions on Goals and link between short and long-term goals.

  • Hobbies, and why pursuing these?

  • Ended on a neutral note. Most questions were as prepared and expected.
